Yukari
(Site Developer)
Yukari launched this site as a counterpart to the Mid-Atlantic NTSA newsletter
of which she was editor until she moved to San Francisco in September 1997. The idea
for the web site came about because she thought it would be a great interactive complement to the newsletter
as well as being useful to those who did not receive the quarterly. Although she is disappointed
to not have found a replacement editor for the Dialogue newsletter, she is still pleased
to see significant usage of the site and works hard to keep it as current as possible.
In addition to maintaining the this site, Yukari also is an active member of the West Coast NTSA Public
Relations Committee and a co-coordinator of the NTSA pen pal program.
Professionally, Yukari currently works as an account executive for Edelman Public Relations
in their consumer technology practice. Prior to this, she worked in the editorial departments
of Reuters and U.S. News and World Report after graduating from Georgetown
University's School of Foreign Service in 1995.
Kit Alderdice
(Graphics Designer)
Kit was initially pulled into this project to help Photoshop-ignorant Yukari
with the graphic aspects of the site. Since then, she has become a valuable
partner, responsible for realizing "the look and feel" that Yukari wanted-
she didn't blink an eye when a re-design was proposed shortly after the first
design was finished. While Yukari invites her to dinner as often as possible
in return, she can never repay Kit for all of the work (frequently taking up
her weekends) and for showing her how to create title gifs in Photoshop.
Professionally, Kit is the creative director for Microsoft's Washington D.C.
Sidewalk site. Prior to that, she worked as
the Artistic Director for
The Electronic Newsstand and was responsible
for all of their design. A long time New Yorker, she moved down to
Washington, D.C. a few years ago.
Patrick Kane
(Technical Support)
Patrick is responsible for all of the technical stuff (this site is on a
server that he maintains). He has also provided general advice and commentary
about the site, alerting Yukari and Kit to the fact that the first design
"sucked".
Having completed a degree in Science, Technology and International Affairs in
May 1997 from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service, Patrick is
now working as a senior associate of Coopers and Lybrand's computer assurance
services practice. While in school, he worked as a network consultant for several clients including
The Electronic Newsstand for which he acted as the senior UNIX administrator.
Yuuki Matsumoto
(Graphics Artist)
It would not be an exaggeration to say that the site would not look as nice as it does without Yuuki's work. He is responsible for the adaptive design of the logo and the creation of the icons. As you are sure to notice, the icons are a focal point in creating a homey, comfortable feel, and it was important to have it done right. Although he claims that it is the first time he's done this type of hand-drawn work, the icons are very impressive, even more so, knowing that he did it with a mouse.
When Yuuki is not answering to Yukari's emergency calls for help with the graphics, he does computer consulting and free-lances as a graphics artist. A recent ceramics graduate of George Washington University's masters program, he is open to consultations with potential clients. If you are interested, please e-mail him.
