Tips for Sibs from Sibs
Excerpt from "Understanding Your Brother or Sister With Tuberous Sclerosis"

  1. Talk to someone - parents, other sibs, friends, etc. - about your thoughts and feelings.
  2. Realize that it is okay to have all kinds of feelings (conflicting, happy, sad, loving, angry, jealous...)
  3. Read and learn about your brother's or sister's disability or illness. Knowledge leads to understanding. Understanding leads to tolerance.
  4. Remember, all brothers and sisters sometimes embarrass an danger us, the handicapped and non-handicapped ones.
  5. Find yourself a best friend that you can really openly talk to and trust.
  6. Remember that keeping stress inside of you doesn't make it go away - vent and talk.
  7. SMILE! You are not alone.

These Tips and other easy-to-understand information are found in NTSA's new booklet "Understanding Your Brother or Sister With Tuberous Sclerosis". Call or e-mail NTSA to request a copy.
